All tools emit varying levels of HAV, some high and some low. However, this is not the only thing to consider. In most cases, the actual usage time otherwise known as the Trigger Time; is significantly less than the user actually believes. In fact, with many high vibration tools, the daily usage can be so low that the user is not affected eg. a percussion drill user typically drills less than 20 holes per day. Although the drill has a relatively high vibration level, the user’s total exposure can be quite low. In fact over 85% of powertool exposure levels are below harmful levels because the tool has either low vibration or low usage levels :
